When Is Diwali 2025? Know The 5-Day Festival Guide

The festival of light, Diwali 2025, is knocking on your doorstep. This festival is very special. But have you ever wondered why we celebrate Diwali? Or what is its significance? The Diwali festival is not just limited to simple celebration, sweets, and lighting. It symbolises the victory of good over evil by bringing light into the darkness or unhappiness of our lives. Before understanding when Diwali is in 2025, let us know the symbolic meaning of Diwali.

In North India, people celebrate Diwali to welcome Prabhu Ram in Ayodhya, after defeating Ravana. Whereas in South India, people also celebrate Diwali for LOrd Krishna’s victory over Narakasura. Similarly, in the Gujarat region, on this day, people worship Goddess Lakshmi for wealth and prosperity and in West Bengal, people perform Kali puja on Diwali night. Furthermore, for the Jains, it is nirvana or final liberation of Lord Mahavira. Apart from these, one of the other reasons is that Diwali is also the time of the rebirth of Goddess Lakshmi during Samudra Manthan. In this rebirth, she chose Vishnu Ji as her husband.

Whatever the reason to celebrate this festival, the message of Diwali is the same for every person. Diwali brings hope and positivity to everyone’s life. Therefore, let us know all about the Diwali Puja in 2025, including the real date of Diwali, the reason why Diwali is so early in 2025, and the proper Diwali Puja Vidhi.

What is the Real Date of Diwali in 2025?

This year, there is confusion about the Diwali Pujan date because Amavasya Tithi falls on two days. I.e., 20th and 21st October. But the main date for  Diwali pujan is on  October 21 2025. But why is Diwali falling so early in 2025?  The date of Diwali depends on the lunar or Hindu calendar. The date of Diwali changes every year because it follows Kartik Amavasya. Therefore, the changes in Moon phases, Tithi and planetary alignments determine the date of Diwali.

The Amvasya Tithis starts at - 3:44 PM on October 20 and it ends at 5:54 PM on October 21, 2025.
